With two losses to start the season our captain corageous Craig Niman dived overboard and left Tom O'Reilly to steer his ship. Turfed off the premier ground for a dog show... D Grade found themselves up the top. TJ lost the toss and Dianella were sent out to bowl. Was all of this a sign of things to come? Yes.

That said, our bowlers started well, with S Townson and L O'Reilly (playing his first game for the club) bowling good first spells, picking up a wicket each, including a great leg side catch from C Haagman behind the stumps. First change bowlers T O'Reilly and A Thallapally continued where they left off, striking once a piece. The boys took the foot off the pedal a little bit and allowed the SKLP number three to get away, finally being dismissed LBW by L O'Reilly. All said and done, SKLP had made 185, an imposing total at Light St.

S Reddy promoted to opener with P Gundoji got us off to a reaosnable start, and J Comande, M Lawson and N Silva all had handy knocks. The total required proved to be insurmountable and Dianella were all out for 122 in the 39th over. A congrats goes to S Vadde, also playing his first game for Dianella CC.

Hard start to the season, but we've been competitive in all three games. Things will start to click and we'll start stringing together wins. Here's the keys Nimo, sorry about the scratches...

Playing Helena Valley at Robertsbridge. Helena Valley skipper won the toss and elected to bat. Opening bowlers Ikram and Saeed maintained good line and length. Helena Valley openers were finding it difficult to score. With pressure mounting the opener decided to dance down the crease and attack Saeed who spun the ball wide of off stump and the wicket keeper Nuskhan affected the stumping. Raza joined Saeed and made life difficult for the Valley batsman. Raza claiming 4 wickets. Siraj with 2 wickets along with Minjad and soba taking a wicket each and a brilliant run out from Ikram and Helena Valley could only manage 80 runs. Adnan bowled 8 overs for 13 runs and was unlucky not to have couple of wickets due to drop catches. Helena Valley bowlers trying to defend a small total came out all guns blazing. Demons reliable opener Shameel was cleaned bowled of the third ball of the innings, Nuskhan and Raza lost their wickets trying to hit out . When Ikram was out for a well compiled 23. Demons were in real trouble at 5/49. Soba and Siraj trying to consolidate played cautiously before Soba was hit on the helmet by the left arm quick. After the hit Soba was furious, hitting two massive sixes and two fours before he was caught brilliantly to a running catch. Irshad joined the skipper at 6/65 and made sure no more wickets fell. Irshad remained 14 not out along with the skipper scoring the 85 runs in the 20th over. Winning by 4 wickets and 20 overs to spare. Hard fought win for the Demons.

I Grade played for a second week at Coolbinia Oval this time against Yokine Pilbara. Yokine won the toss and elected to bat. We bowled and caught well restricting Yokine to 138. This included one of their players who chanced his luck for 76. Calum Tomlison (3 for 26) George (3 for 24) and Scotty (2 for 21) were the key wicket takers. In reply Dianella got off to a shakey start losing two early wickets. Jezza (26 ) and Watto (15) then had a good partnership to get us back on track. After their dismissal we batted sensibly passing Yokine in the 33 over. This was our first win of the season and could be summarised as a very even team performance.
