J. Comande          54

SR. Devireddy      33

S. Townson        3/15

To start the season, D grade captain delivered early on with a clutch toss win against Ellenbrook before the game. Securing the comfortable balcony seats for boys on a rather hot and sticky afternoon. The openers handled the new ball well, with a steady start. Preetham's 17-run contribution set a solid foundation, effectively seeing off the opening bowlers.
After the early dismissals of the openers, it was crucial to stabilize the innings. Joe and Srujan stepped up, showcasing a commendable partnership, Joe with an impressive 54 and Srujan's valuable 33 guided us through a pivotal phase. Subsequent batsmen aimed for quick runs, and Ellenbrook responded with stellar catches to cap our total score. Despite the challenges, we successfully batted through all our overs, reaching a respectable total of 156.
It was then our turn to bowl. Tom and Scotty took the new ball, delivering maiden overs each, setting the tone with excellent bowling and numerous chances at a wicket. The ball frequently landed just an arm's length away from fielders, encapsulating the theme of the afternoon. Ellenbrook boasted quality batsmen, and we toiled hard to see their backs. As we entered their lower order, we knew there was much work to be done. Our bowlers demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, rallying us back into the game. Scotty Townson's standout performance of 3/15 from his 8 overs was a highlight. A shoutout to all our bowlers for their unwavering determination and relentless effort.
In the end, a few quick boundaries sealed our fate and we went down in the 37th over.

E Grade

Dianella CC (10/81) def by Southern Central Districts CC (6/107)

DCC E grade were put into bat. Their openings bowlers were quite good and we lost 4 early wickets. However some dogged batting from Watto, Brodie A and Olly saw us bat a lot overs and we were eventually out for 77.
We got off to a flyer having them them 2 for 1 thanks to Scotty and Olly (welcome back) before he broke down in his second over. The boys bowled well, with new guy D'silva picking up his 1st wicket for the club and Mahesh picking up 2 late wickets.
We also dropped a few catches early and as well as a few more runs could made a difference.
All the boys put in and there was some serious experience on the park, however we blew out a few cobwebs and will be better for the run.
