Coolbinia West Perth CC (43) def by Dianella CC (7/45)
R Cox 15
B Hutchinson 9*
T Hupping 4/12
P Ridley 3/3
A grade played long time rival Coolbinia this week in a must win game to get our season started after a few tough losses. Looking to change things up this week Captain Ryan McCormack was hoping to bowl first. As the coin fell the wrong way Coolbinia had won the toss and thankfully chosen to bat first. After a few inspiring words and some injured manhood to Zac Hupping during the warm ups we were ready to fire and fire we did. Third ball into the innings Tyler Hupping struck the opener on the pad and he was given out. With the next ball he delivered a beautiful in swinging Yorker to take middle peg straight out of the ground and get us off to our dream start. Then on a hat trick producing an unplayable delivery that was so good it missed everything. This the first of Tyler’s hat trick efforts as we secured himself 4/12 off 5. Zac at the other end wasn’t as quick to find his zones allowing for 11 extras in his 1/26 off 5. It was then Paul Ridley who did the rest of the damage with help from Dilshan at the other end. Paul Ridley taking an easy 3/3 off 1.5 while Dilshan finished with 1/1 off 1. This leaving Coolbinia all out for 43 with a small target to chase. Discussions were had to take this easy and get ourselves to the finish line in however long it takes us without losing wickets. This strategy may have proven costly if it wasn’t for some heroic batting by Rhiarn Cox at the top and Brad Hutchison at the end. After getting our first batter out on the second ball of the innings coolbinia seemed to want blood. Rhai-Arn cox (15 off 47) stemmed the bleeding as we were 5 for 23. Brad Hutchinson (9 off 17) and Toby Robertson (8 off 6) finishing the game off with 3 wickets to spare and 20 overs left. A crucial win for A grade as we look to boost our season and make a competitive case before the Christmas break. A win against a red hot Scarborough is next on the to-do list.

In a solid bowling performance, Tom and Scott took the opening spells, each delivering 5 overs. Scott struck in the 5th over with a well-deserved wicket with Arjun taking a solid catch. Tom had his turn in the next over, brilliantly held by debutant keeper Preetham. The hunt for the next wicket proved challenging, but Hayden finally broke through in the 21st over. Hayden and Jessie bowled tirelessly in a single spell, making it difficult for the captain to take them off. Despite a couple of missed chances off Jessie's bowling, they held their ground. The ball then passed to Craig and Casey. Casey's exceptional bowling, featuring some menacing short balls, earned him 2 wickets for 7 runs in 4 overs. Well done Casey! Craig, maintained a good length, finished with figures of 3 wickets for 10 runs off 5 overs. The ball was then thrown to the opening bowlers to wrap up the tail, they succeeded in dismissing Rossmoyne for 110 all out in the 39.5 over, so I guess they achieved their objective. With the bat, we methodically chased down the target. The openers, Preetham and Ayesh doing a great job seeing off the new ball, followed by Arjun and Sai, with valuable contributions. Top scorers Ryan Marfurt contributing 27 and Matt Lawson making 22. This marks our second consecutive victory, and the team is building winning momentum.

Maylands won the toss and elected to bat. With a fast out field Maylands were slow at the beginning and started accumulating runs after 20 overs. Saeed and Soba bowled well, Minjad Musthafa ending up with 5 wickets with his in swingers sending three batters clean bowled. Siraj was unlucky to have 3 catches dropped off his bowling. With 6 dropped catches and mediocre fielding Maylands managed to score 180 runs. Chasing 180, Shameel and Raza started well before Shameel was caught in the deep for 18. Raza went on to make 31 well supported by skipper with 28, with several single digit scores Dianella only could manage 120. A match to reflect and bounce back.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat, Craig celebrated his 350th game by having his son Brodie open the batting with him. Against some good bowling, they got the team off to steady start before Craig was run out in an attempt to start lifting the run rate. Brodie and Shaun combined for a 50 run partnership to have the team ready for a push in the last 10 overs, before Brodie fell to a great outfield catch for a well made 33. Unfortunately we lost a lot of quick wickets, and didn't kick on as much as would've liked. Mithun chipped in with 14no to ensure we batted our overs out, with the side ending up with 120 on the board. Junior and Luke bowled great in tandem with the new ball, with Luke pushing through injury to bowl 8 straight. Cam came on first change and picked up a couple of wickets. All the boys bowled well, but without luck which really never enabled us to put enough pressure on, only defending a small total. David picked up the only other wicket and Uni ended up winning reasonably comfortably in the end.

I Grade played City Beach at Robertsbridge. We won the toss and elected to bowl. City Beach batted very well scoring 201 for 3 off 40 overs. We bowled mostly in good areas, but any loose bowling was dealt with. Calum, Scott, Brian, and George were the most economical.
In reply Dianella struggled to score against their tight bowling and were dismissed for 76. Phani (18) being the only batsman to reach double figures
