On what was to be a very trying weekend, with a double header against long time rivals Caversham and ladder leaders Lesmurdie, the A grade boys looked to try and seal a win on Saturday to try and work to be 2 from 2 over the weekend. We lost the toss and were sent in the bowl. A good start from Tyler Hupping saw the opener dismissed LBW in the third over of the day. The other opener dismissed by Paul Ridley caught off a bullet to slip. That was where the fun stopped as the number 3 and 4 for Caversham stuck in and really ground the game to a halt looking to survive and pick off the bad ball. Our next wicket not coming until the 31st over with both batsmen reaching 50 and pushing the score to 3/165 with 9 overs to go a good bowling effort from Shane beros at the end taking 3 wickets keeping them to a score of 8/223 a score that could have been a lot more if not for right bowling at the death. Needing 224 to win. Dianella got off to a shaky start as both openers fell quickly along with a couple of close calls we found ourselves at 7/69. We needed to look at building ourselves back into the game. That was not the plan for Toby Robertson belting 65 off 47 balls alongside Dilshan who once again stood tall in a time of need hitting 34 off 62 while wickets fell around him. With a bit of belief growing after a spectacular batting innings from Toby and Caversham running 6 overs behind time. All we had to do was survive and get close and take it deep. That was until a ball of the day dismissed our last batsmen leaving us 45 runs short of victory.

Day 2 had come around and after a tough loss the day before we looked to try and pinch one away from a weakened Lesmurdie side. With plenty of pre game issues around players arriving and not arriving. A final 12 was named and we again lost the toss and were sent in to bowl with 7 players and a spectator turned fielder for the first 3 overs. A good opening start from make shift opening pair Ryan McCormack and Bailey O’Keefe who both provided maidens to start with Bailey O’Keefe having a chance go down first ball of his over. After the normal opening pair had arrived in a somewhat awake state. They quickly got to work with Tyler Hupping again proving why he’s the best bowler in the association taking 3 wickets in his 8 overs. A direct hit run out from Bailey O’Keefe saw the in form opener depart early changing the game and getting that spark we needed from struggles of Saturday. Some very class batting from Lesmurdies middle order saw them taking quick singles and hitting the bad ball. But that was no match for Dilshan who took 5 wickets for the match dismissing Lesmurdie for 172. On what looked to be a very small ground we were up and about hoping to secure a much needed victory. Opener Glen Gillett-Payne got us off to a flying start with a quick fire 26 off 13 balls to set a platform for Ayesh Wijesiri and Tim Dearle to build and get us over the line. Smart batting and beautiful shots brought both of batters to 73 and 56 respectively Ayesh the standout batsmen of the day not giving a single chance until his final ball. Paul Ridley sealing win off with a six. Getting us to their score 3 down at 3/174. A grade looking to finish with 2 more strong wins against a bottom side Helena Valley at home and a new rival Midland at Midland before we break for Christmas.

We were asked to bowl first and Olly and Liam got the team off to a great start early, and along with Ayesh all collected a wicket each to have us on top at 3/30. Cricket can be a funny game, and on another day all those play and misses, half chances or miss hits would've resulted in us having them 5 for not many at drinks. Unfortunately that was not the case, and the boys did go a bit flat for a period which allowed Ellenbrook to get on top. To the boys credit, at the 30 over mark it looked like we would be chasing 200 plus but they bowled and fielded really well to keep them to 176. Casey, Olly and Ayesh all grabbed 2wkts, whilst Liam bowled 8 straight for 1/19. In reply, Ayesh and Ashton saw off the new ball well, but weren't really able to make the most of it and start to cash in. At drinks we were only 1 down but the run rate required was already at 7. To the boys credit they came in and tried to up the scoring, potentially sacrificing wickets along the way. Joe made 21, but the game was quickly out of reach. Andy ensured we batted the overs out with a well made 32. Thanks to the younger boys for stepping up a grade.

After the previous round coin controversy Brabham made sure they had an Australian coin. Dianella skipper won the toss and elected to bat. Demons had the worst possible start with the opener being cleaned bowled for a duck without troubling the scorers. Shameel made a run a ball 31 before he was caught and bowled. At the half way mark Demons were in trouble with 5 wickets down for only 80 runs. A patient knock by Ikram who scored 26. Soba and left hander Shiraf put on a 54 run partnership in just 4 overs before the elegant left handed Shiraff after two exquisite off drives lost his wicket for 20 while Soba been dropped couple of times went on to make 59 with 3 fours and 3 sixes. A mature innings of 35 with 2 sixes and 2 fours by Minjad saw the Demons pass 200. Brabham Chasing 218 to win on a fast out field came out aggressively. At the end of 4 overs they were 34 for no loss and Siraj decided to introduce the part timer Shameel to bowl a few offies. First two balls landed outside the pitch and were called no balls, when Shameel landed the 1st legitimate ball on target Brabham skipper lost his middle stump trying to reverse sweep. With several LBW shouts turned down. Minjad clean bowled Rajbir when the batsman was ready to walk umpire decided to call it a no ball. Things were hotting up in the middle and without an official umpire Siraj had to shuffle the fielders around to keep the momentum and not to loose focus. Saed with 2 wickets. Shiraf, Shameel, Siraj, Adnan, Soba and Ikram all bowled well to claim a wicket each. Fahim cleaned the tail claiming 2 wickets in 8 balls. Raza took three brilliant catches while Minjad took a running catch in the deep. Wicket keeper Fawzan once again was outstanding behind the stumps. Another challenging victory for the Demons by 66 runs.

This week we played against university at Robertsbridge. Unfortunately we lost a couple of key players for this weeks game and went into it with a very young line up. We won the toss and chose to bad first. After a slow start from our captain once he lost his wicket we managed to pick up steam and started to score well and set up our inning very nicely with S.Rutland and N.Silva looking in control of the game. Unfortunately we went from 3/85 to all out for 101 which was a very disappointing collapse. Bowling we bowled very well and fielded even better with N.Silva taking the best catch of the season go far! Unfortunately even tho we bowled very well and fielded amazingly 101 wasn’t enough tho put any pressure on the other team and they past our score in 33 overs. Plenty of good things coming out of this game but we need to bad deeper to stay competitive in these sort of games! Players of note: S.Rutland 42 N.Silva 25 C.Tomlinson 2/16

I Grade played Ellenbrook at Ellenbrook. We lost the toss and fielded first. Ellenbrook made 220. Unfortunately our bowling was not as accurate as in previous weeks, we dropped a couple of important catches and an umpiring decision did not go our way.
In reply we lost 3 early wickets then consolidated with a nice partnership between Max (11) and Jonno. This was followed by a nice partnership between Jason (17) and Jonno. Jonno went on to make a brilliant 125 that almost got us to our target. We ultimately finished 10 runs short.
